I’m a proud mother to two teenage daughters, an exciting experience, but exponentially challenging!
For several years, I have been a part-time volunteer socialiser for the Hearing Dogs for Deaf People. Combining young children and pets has been an exciting, but exponentially challenging experience.
It has taught me compassion, humour, patience and self-control! On many occasions, I’ve had to “hit the ground running”, to be adaptable 24/7 managing my time as efficiently as possible, however at the end of the day it has been rewarding.
I love being in the open air whether it’s walking or swimming, the best medicine to clear the mind. A walk in a country park finished off with a flat white and cake or on the beach with scampi and chips, just can’t be beaten. Another passion is swimming and over the last 2 years I’ve embraced open water swimming.
In 1991, I graduated with a BSc in physiotherapy. My interest has been in orthopaedics and rehabilitation, and in 1997, I gained my diploma in orthopaedic medicine.
For several years, I worked with local rugby teams, establishing a medical service at Aldwinian’s RUFC. In 1999, I was fortunate enough to be part of the team when they celebrated the most successful season in 63 years, winning the NW One Championship and NPI Cup and being awarded the Budweiser Team of the Year silver trophy.
I joined Wetherby RUFC in March 2016 providing a physio clinic and was privileged to see them achieve Yorkshire 3 Champions and Yorkshire Silver Trophy.
In 2002, I started diversifying my practice into complementary therapy. Whilst practicing in Sheffield, I was privileged to cross refer clients with a Pilates instructor, an established and highly respected body control practice and have continued to do this in York with Reformer Pilates and Gyrotonics. These are an excellent adjunct to MFR.
In 2008, I completed MFR courses with international lecturers, Art Riggs and James Earls, which has consolidated my work as a soft tissue therapist.
My development was further consolidated in 2011 when I gained my advanced level with IMFR UK of which there are currently only a few of us in Yorkshire.
With 30 years’ experience in soft tissue work I believe, I can deliver a holistic treatment based on your individual needs. Bodywork is very personal, and no two bodies are the same, therefore I strive to ensure the treatment journey is individual and bespoke.
Since navigating into midlife, myself, I enjoy supporting clients that are experiencing the effects of middle age and often change within the body. It felt the perfect time to create Metamorph Therapy.
